The MP470 uses Canon's FINE technology with microscopic droplets as small as two picoliters for incredible detail, and a maximum 4800 x 1200 dot-per-inch (dpi) resolution for vivid, lifelike prints. It also works fast, printing a borderless 4-by-6-inch photo in approximately 46 seconds. Before printing, you can preview and fine tune your images by using the color LCD display. For added convenience, you can print from memory cards, cameras, and camera phones--no computer needed. You even have the option of click-connect-print: Just capture an image with a PictBridge-ready digital camera/DV camcorder, then connect and print. And if you're not completely satisfied with your print, the Easy-PhotoPrint EX software and automatic image-fix help you troubleshoot and create a wide variety of beautiful shots. In fact, using select Canon inks and photo papers with the MP470 will produce photos that last up to 100 years.
Exceptionally easy to use, the MP470 is ready to go when you are; simply press the power button and you can begin inputting commands immediately. The USB 2.0 interface enables the fastest possible image transfers and scanning speeds. For added convenience, you can print from a compatible Bluetooth device in another room, using the optional USB Bluetooth adapter. When it's time to make copies, trust the dual color gamut processing technology to automatically optimize quality based on the type of originals you're copying. And all your scans will have superb detail, thanks to the high resolution of up to 2400 x 4800 dpi.

Pixma MP470 Photo All-In-One Power Cord Sample Media (five 8.5 x 11 sheets), setup instructions, quick start guide, setup software and user's guide CD-ROM, cross sell sheet, and one each PG-4 black and CL-41 color cartridges.

Other than technical defect, good printer
I've had my printer for about 10 months. I loved it in the beginning. For the price, I thought it was a great printer (and still do think the quality printing is good). My problem is that after about 5 months, the paper feeder would no longer feed paper into the printer. The rollers would roll, but wouldn't catch the paper to feed it in. I called Canon and they sent me a refurbished one to replace it and paid the shipping to return the old one. I was happy with their prompt response, and I do disagree with reviews saying Canon's service is bad. I would give this product 4 stars, but I'm waiting to see if I'll have the same problem with my replacement printer first.

Happy!
Excellent utility printer. even good with photos. only frustration...the ink cartridges are tiny. I have to change them often.

So Far...So Good
I ordered this product based on its capabilities and after reading a lot of reviews. I have a small business and use it for basic printing. Its a little slow (processing) but works very well...plus it was easy for me to install and I know very little about computers/accessories. I would recommend it for light printing needs....

New Printer
I am very satisfied with the printer. I like Canon Printers. I own 2 others. They do a great job of printing and they are very economical to operate.

Beautiful, long-lasting prints.
The PIXMA Pro9000 Photo Printer along with the ChromaLife100 system combines the benefits of select genuine Canon dye-based inks, select Canon photo papers and FINE print head technology to create long-lasting, beautiful prints. This 8-color dye ink system produces a wide color gamut, and achieves the vivid coloration and high glossiness that may have been missing with other conventional photo printers.
Canon software for photo fine-tuning.
Want more control over the print process? With the Canon Easy-PhotoPrint Pro software plug-in, this next-generation photo printer can be seamlessly integrated into a computer workflow. Easy-PhotoPrint Pro augments other post-production software, including Canon Digital Photo Professional software (DPP version 2.1) and Adobe® Photoshop® CS/CS2 software. You can use customized layout options to produce contact prints, prints with shooting information-even pattern prints of a single image that let you select the optimal color balance, brightness and contrast settings. For further fine-tuning, choose from three color adjustments that can be saved with personal settings: Enable ICC Profile, Photo Color and Linear Tone.
FINE Technology
Canon Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering (FINE) uses a patented print head with
6,144 precision nozzles, ejecting ink droplets as small as 2 picoliters. Meaning? More nozzles + high accuracy + small droplets = amazing images.

Canon PRO9000 review
This is my first Photo quality printer, and is on PC-Photography's best buy list.
Things you'll need to know.
It's big! make sure you have the desk space, you're going to need it.
If you already have a canon printer, which I did, when you attempt to load the software for the new printer it may stop at 35%. Don't be alarmed, it's finished because you're system is able to use the existing canon files. Just close it out and print away.
Set-up and Printing is easy. I decided to use Kodak Ultra paper for my first attempts instead of spending extra $$ on higher priced paper and it works well with standard JPEG format. IF you plan on converting RAW files or you're shooting a higher JPEG format I'd suggest looking into a better grade paper, but for day to day use the Kodak works fine.
Note: it's tuff finding frames for paper sizes 8-1/2x11 and 11x17 prints most are 8x10 and 11x14.
Print Quality is outstanding! Colors are sharp and Canon allows you to pick several different settings to enhance the print, from the type of paper to white balance adjustments. It's easy to do if you decide to use the print preview and is a nice touch!
Overall- Plug and Play! Five Stars!

Very pleased with the purchase.
I carefully read every review I could find on this printer. For the most part I found the bad reviews more revealing than the good ones. Almost every problem in the complaints that were not Canon customer service related were about printing issues that aren't really related to the printer itself. Most of the reviews complaining about quality or ease of use were people who really did not understand how to use it. I found it very simple to use but this is something I am very familiar with.
Installation was pretty easy. Standard software first kinda thing. I aligned the printer head as part of the automated install and immediately turned out a very high quality 13X19 photo print. This is less than 10 minutes after opening the box.
I read the specs but you still don't realize how big this thing is until you see it. IT HAS WHEELS!....well two anyway. They are handy to move the printer forward from a storage position on your desk. I really like how the entire printer closes up to a sealed unit to cut down on dust in the printer.
This is my third Canon printer and I am used to the ink cartridge system. The software keeps track of ink levels and starts nagging you a while before each cartridge runs completely out. Which from experience is often if you print lots of photos. Canon ink is expensive but you get exactly what you pay for. Refill ink is simply not going to work for photos. Be prepared to shell out full pop for ink at least once a year.
As others have complained about, no USB cord. Well I needed a really long one anyway. I am not to concerned about it. I would like to have seen some sample large format paper in there but none of that either :)
This is a very heavy printer. Be sure you examine it carefully for shipping damage. I found the Styrofoam showing signs of extreme impact. Thankfully the printer is well packed but be sure!
I wish all my recent purchases were as pleasing as this one. If you have been holding off, quit living without it. Get it.

Very nice prints but lots of ink
I really like Canon printers and the only reason I was in search of a new Canon to replace my i9900 was because of the ink reservoir warning. To replace that reservoir would have cost more than the printer was worth. Hence, the move to the Pixma Pro9000.
First set of ink tanks that came with this printer lasted so long, I was amazed and pretty stoked because the ink is more expensive for the Pro9000 than for the i9900. The subsequent replacement ink tanks are not lasting as long so I have to wonder if those first ink tanks had more ink in them. I am using Canon ink and not generic so it has nothing to do with the "brand".
First PC ink tank, the one that came with the printer, got over 80 prints. Second, third, fourth, fifth ink tanks are now averaging between 50-65. A big drop. First PC ink tank, one that came with the printer, got an astounding 123 prints; second, third, fourth, fifth... now averaging around 80ish.
I'm considering a continuous ink system for this printer. Meanwhile, the printer is sucking up ink (which is around a cartridge for OEM) but the prints are excellent. Until I can find a printer that provides the quality of Canon (printer and ink) I'll continue to use Canon and this particular printer certainly does do a nice job.

A Real Pro Printer!
Just setup my Canon Pro 9000 printer this PM and couldn't be happier. The setup following the easy install directions went flawlessly. It took about 20 minutes including doing the print head alignment. I am waiting for a Eye-One monitor calibration device to be delivered, but I thought I would just try one of my high resolution prints from my Canon Rebel Xsi camera on Canon Glossy Photo paper for fun. It was unbelievable! The EasyPhoto Pro software is a cinch to use and it makes me wonder if I really need to spend the $$$$ to purchase a higher end Photo program. I can go right from Digital Photo Professional to EasyPhoto Pro and obtain perfect prints that seem to match my monitor colors already!

Excellent printer but...
The Epson R1800 is an excellent pigment ink printer. Fantastic quality, fast, and quiet. I'm a graphic designer and photographer, and have used it exclusively for design proofs and photography, most usually printing the larger 13x19 sizes. I've been through two of them in the last three years.
Here's the "but" in my review: if you're a heavy user like me, you'll fill up the waste ink tank very quickly. What's that? The waste ink is what happens when you clean your printer and/or it dumps the excess as it's printing. While I don't clean mine too often, I do use it a lot, so standard cleanings are the norm. To replace the waste ink tank runs about 0-0, so it becomes a question of replacement, hacking your machine to install an external tank (only recommended if you're mechanically inclined and btw, it will void your warranty) or buying a new printer.
The average life of my printers have been about 16-18 months, and in my opinion, that's not long enough for a printer that costs as much as the R1800 and R1900s cost.
The ink cartridge prices are expensive, as well, so I converted mine to a bulk in feed system using Media Street's Niagara bulk continuous ink system (CIS). One caveat there: these inks tend to clog if not used on a daily basis, so again, you'll be replacing the ink waste tank sooner if you don't print regularly. However, you will save thousands in ink costs, and I'm not kidding. My yearly ink cost went down over B000N5YR6U,000 by abandoning the cartridges and using the bulk feed CIS.
Overall, the R1800 is an excellent printer. The colors are true, printer is fast, and you can't beat it's fairly decent price.

Total satisfaction with the R1800
I've had my R1800 for about two years, and printed perhaps 250 8x10 and 10x12 images over that time period. The performance has been stellar in all regards. I'd rate the genuine Epson cartridge life as well above average compared to the HPs I've owned. One trick: only change the cartridge when the "red light" on the printer appears; the on-screen pop-up warning is at least 20 percent ahead of empty. I've never had to clean a nozzle. I've used Epson paper exclusively, so I can't rate the performance of other papers with this machine.

Fine Art Photographer
I'm a Fine Art Digital Photographer, not a techno geek to make it plain to those reading my assessment of the Epson Stylus Pro 3800. Since getting into the digital arena and printing my own images, I've been with Epson exclusively. My digital prints are quality images, printed on the many available Epson substrates - with perfect results. The Pro3800 is intuitive and easy to use, the switching between photo and matte inks is seamless, but takes a little time. So what. Coming from a wet darkroom experience in the past, time was something expected and desired for the outcome of a beautiful print. The printer's colors are spectacular, the black and whites are great, the manual is easy to understand and if followed, the results speak for themselves.
Perhaps I should mention that my printer is upstairs in my studio, attached to my MacBook Pro and used only for the purpose of creating my photographs. The previous reviewer speaks of many other applications he had in mind for this unit. Perhaps his expectations somehow exceed the normal use for a printer of this caliber. But, I admit, I am no techno person, just an artist who is delighted with the performance of this printer.
As to the shipping mishaps he has experienced, unfortunate, but does happen. I bought my printer through Amazon, and it arrived in tip top shape. Also, I've always had good customer support from Epson in the past, so don't know why he didn't.
For you ..... prospective buyers ...... assess your printing needs first, look up other printers and independent reviews, then make an informed choice.
West Cornwall, Connecticut

Truly Awesome!
My new Epson 3800 has exceeded all my expectations. The print quaility is
extraordinary and getting great color is much simpler than other wide format
printers I've owned. The print speed is exceptional.

Great on a PC, horrible on a Mac
I've owned this printer for a few years. It worked great out of the box, with a PC and Windows XP. I printed out of Photoshop Elements 2, Olympus Camedia, Canon camera software, and Epson's software that comes with the printer. The printer seemed to handle all these software packages well. 4x6 prints were perfect. 13x19 were perfect. I even used some 10x7 scored cards, which fold in half to a nice 5x7 card with photo on the front of the card--with a little trickery in Photoshop. This is a great printer on a PC.
I've had horrible results on a Mac. Too dark, too saturated, inflexible paper sizes (specifically, I couldn't get the 10x7 --> 5x7 card option figured out). Works horribly if you let Aperture 1.5 control the driver. System managed color is better, but still way too dark. I could go on, but the web is littered with discussion forums of Mac users disappointed with the Epson R1800. It seems Epson never provided good drivers for the Mac platform. About all I got from their tech support is that I should buy Epson paper (which is ridiculous, since it worked flawlessly on a number of high-quality papers when driven by a PC).
If you own a Mac, or are even thinking of migrating to a Mac within 5 years, AVOID the Epson R1800.

Great Gift for Elderly Parent
My brother gave this to our father who is in assisted living. It doesn't take up much space, it gives him something to do and the print quality is very good. The only problem is that my father has lost dexterity in his fingers, so he struggles putting the memory stick in.
If he can use it, anybody can use it.
Still, there's nothing difficult about this unit and it beats watching TV. He's had it for several months and really enjoyed printing out pictures from his 96th birthday party while the party was still going on and giving the pictures away.
It was such fun we all wanted one. We weren't able to get it to crop photos, but it may be that it will do that and we just didn't figure that part out. Still, nice photos. A very useful, easy-to-use unit if your fingers work right.

Epson PictureMate Pal (PM 200) Photo Printer
Very easy to use. Excellent pictures. A must buy for the casual photo person.

Epson PM 240 Picture Mate
I bought two, one for a gift. Very good quality photos. Fast printing. The LCD screen is too small and you can't zoom in to see if you need to edit more before prining (w/out a computer). With a computer, no problem; but the software package for photo editting leaves something to be desired. Sometimes the red-eye reduction needs to be undone. The photo managing is not always easy and intuitive.
Overall, I love this printer and recommend it for the price, quality, and cheap recurring costs of printing.

Great photo printer for the price
This is a great printer. I compared the print quality with a more expensive HP printer and basically there was not much a difference. So I chose this printer and it has been great. I would definitely purchase this again.

I love this printer!
This is a great printer. The photo quality is fantastic and it's super easy to use. The borders are also very fun. I made my own Christmas cards this year!
There are more print layout options when you use it as a standalone printer (not through the PC) like printing wallet size.
